Inhumans One Shot “Inhumans Prime” Announced

December 16, 2016 By Seren Filed Under: News and Articles, RessurXion, Royal Family, Royals, Secret Warriors, Uncanny Inhumans

inhumansprime-pressToday Marvel announced via Screenrant that a new Inhuman one shot – Inhumans Prime – is to be released this Spring. Written by Al Ewing and with art by Ryan Sook, the issue will take place after the events of IvX and will be a launch pad for the three new Inhumans titles announced last month – Royals, Black Bolt, and Secret Warriors.

In an interview with Marvel editors Wil Moss and Charles Beechum, we got quite a bit more insight as to what’s in store for the Inhumans during RessurXion.  Charles Beechum states “It’s really what sets the landscape for the Inhumans Universe going forward.  So this Inhumans Prime one shot is setting up that story and showing where the Royals are and what’s happening for them as they decide to go off on this adventure: where these other Inhumans are; why they have this need to form this team together. Kind of sets up Black Bolt‘s new status quo and teases where we’re going to find him when his book starts. Just setting the landscape, laying the groundwork for what things are going to look like in April and May and going forward.”

Aside from some insight as to what is in store for the Royal Family and Nuhumans alike, the article also contains some pretty great character concept art by Royals artist Jonboy Meyers (such as this one of Crystal):

You’ll want to visit ScreenRant for the entire interview, but it’s pretty clear that this issue is probably going to be a Must Read for any Inhumans fan. Make sure you pre-order a copy at your LCS!

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Natalia Cordova-Buckley Gets Mini Series

December 6, 2016 By Seren Filed Under: News and Articles, Secret Warriors

slingshotAfter tonight’s Winter Finale of Agents SHIELD we were teased with a preview for the upcoming arc and an announcement that SHIELD‘s own Natalia Cordova-Buckly, who plays Elena “Yoyo” Rodriguez, will be getting her own 6 part mini series starting December 13th.  The series, titled Slingshot, will stream from ABC’s website and will take place between seasons 3 and 4 of Agents of SHIELD.

Yoyo Rodriguez was introduced at the beginning of Season 3 of Agents of SHIELD and immediately established herself as a fan favorite with her no-nonsense attitude and unique power set. Able to run at top speeds and then “slingshot” back to where she started, Yoyo has proven herself to be indispensable to the team and has saved their asses on more than one occasion.

You can find more information on ABC’s Slingshot on the link provided above. If you need more Yoyo Rodriguez in your life after binging this mini-series, you can find her on ABC’s Agents of SHIELD Tuesday nights at 10p.m. Eastern time. You won’t be disappointed.

Inhumans Television Series Now has a Show Runner

December 6, 2016 By Seren Filed Under: Inhumans - ABC, News and Articles, Royal Family

fdhpjsqxnftlszrp7cadToday The Hollywood Reporter announced that Netflix “Iron Fist” Show Runner, Scott Buck, will also be the at the helm of ABC’s Inhumans Television series. The first two episodes of the show are set to premiere in IMAX Theatres the beginning of September before airing on ABC later in the month.

Given the success of “Daredevil”, “Jessica Jones” and “Luke Cage”, Marvel’s “Iron Fist” is set up to follow in their footsteps. To have someone from the NetFlix side coming to work on a series meant for ABC can only be a good a thing.

It looks like 2017 is going to be a great year to be an Inhumans fan.

Marvel Announces New Secret Warriors Title – Inferno Fans, Rejoice!

November 23, 2016 By Seren Filed Under: Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Ms. Marvel, News and Articles, RessurXion, Secret Warriors

secretwarriors-teaserThis morning Marvel announced via CBR another title to come out RessurXion. Secret Warriors, by Matthew Rosenberg (Kingping) and artist Javier Garron (Star Lord). The initial team will be made up of Inhumans Quake (Daisy Johnson), Ms. Marvel, Moon Girl (and Devil Dinosaur of course), Inferno, and Karnak.  More non-Inhuman members will be added to the team later.

Rosenberg has stated that “Ms. Marvel and Quake are really fighting for the soul of the team in a lot of ways, while Moon Girl will continue to really do her own thing. ”  Meanwhile, Inferno looks to be trying to live up to the standard that Ms. Marvel has set, while we’re still not quite sure what Karnak is up to at this time.  With such an eclectic cast of characters (and a giant dinosaur) you have to wonder exactly how this team will work together. Rosenberg states “The Secret Warriors are a team that is being pulled in two directions at once. On one side is the clandestine spy element, represented by Quake. On the other is the superhero side, represented by Ms. Marvel. This book is sort of a tug of war between these two approaches — what is acceptable, what is necessary.”

You can read more from Rosenberg in the link above – but if you ask us, this sounds like it’s going to be a book to watch.

Marvel Announces Black Bolt Ongoing

November 22, 2016 By Seren Filed Under: News and Articles, Royal Family

black-bolt-1-cover

Awhile back Marvel announced their RessurXion event that would be spiraling out of Inhumans vs. X-Men. Since then the company has announced several X-Men titles and just yesterday announced Royals, the first of the Inhumans titles. It looks as though Marvel is just getting started though as today they announced yet another ongoing for the Inhumans.

There’s been a rumor circulating for awhile now that Black Bolt would be getting a solo title coming out of Inhumans vs. X-Men. Black Bolt fans can rejoice as that rumor has been turned to fact! Slated for Spring 2017, the Black Bolt ongoing will be written by novelist Saladin Ahmed with art by Christian Ward (the Ultimates). The series will start off “with Black Bolt helpless. Helpless and locked up. And that’s not a position he’s used to being in.”  Another bit of information is that the series will co-star Crusher Creel. That seems to be an odd choice of a co-star, but will no doubt prove to be interesting.

You can read more about Ahmed’s plans for the series on io9 and at Marvel.com.

New Inhuman Ongoing Announced for April

November 21, 2016 By Seren Filed Under: News and Articles, Royal Family

royalsSince the announcement of the Inhuman TV Show last week, things have quieted down in the Inhumans news front. Until today.

This morning IGN announced that the Inhuman Royal Family will be featured in a new ongoing comic by Al Ewing (The Ultimates, New Avengers). Appropriately titled Royals, the series will feature Black Bolt, Medusa, Crystal and Gorgon. Though, it looks as if Karnak and Triton will be sitting this book out. However, NuHumans Swain and Flint will be on the team along with Young Avenger Noh-Varr (aka Marvel Boy).  You can read the article linked above to find out more about the series but two points really stick out to me:

1.  Noh-Varr is going to be a key player in this series. He knows something about Terrigenesis that the rest of the Royal Family does not.

2. Al Ewing is stating outright that one of the 7 members on the team will not live to return to Earth.

Make of that what you will, but it’s safe to say that this is definitely going to be a series to add to your pull list.

In other news, for those of you worried that the announcement of the Inhuman Television series has all but canceled the movie – there’s a chance that that is not the case. The Hollywood Reporter claims “the film will still go on as planned, co-existing with the 8-part Inhumans series.” That’s pretty great to hear and a smart move on Marvel’s part, if that is indeed the case. The first two episodes of Inhumans will premiere in IMAX on September 4, 2017.  At this time there have been no announcements of a showrunner, director, or casting of the series.

Inhumans television Series Coming To ABC This Fall!!!

November 15, 2016 By Doc Filed Under: News and Articles

In a surprising turn of events, Marvel Entertainment has announced that an Inhumans television series will debut this upcoming fall.  Working in partnership with The IMAX corporation, ABC studies will be producing an eight-episode series shot entirely in the IMAX format.  The first two episodes will be shown at IMAX theaters across the country for a two-week run before airing on the ABC network.

According to the press release from marvel.com, the series will focus on The Royal Family of Old Attilan, introducing viewers to Black Bolt, Medusa, Crystal, Maximus, Karnak, Gorgon, Triton, and of course Lockjaw.  Exactly who will be portraying these characters has yet to be revealed, yet if the series is indeed to debut in September then filming will need to begin soon, so expect casting announcements in the near future.

This will be IMAX’s first foray into broadcast television and the first TV show to be shot entirely on IMAX cameras.  It’s an innovative endeavor that ABC surely hopes will reinvigorate the draw of network television.

The series is being billed as a ‘family action-adventure with signature Marvel humor, set in the present day, with some action taking place on the moon.’  While the concept of Inhumans has been addressed in ABC’s current show, Marvel’s Agents of Shield, it remains unknown whether or not there will be a direct connection between AoS and this new Inhumans series.

New developments will be reported as soon as it comes in.
